December

This time of year we are busy and running around. It is also this time of year that we have to be flexible, creative, and patient!

Tis' the season

December is here......... I had the pleasure of escorting the 8th grade to New York City on Wednesday where in a 6 hour period of time we racked up more then enough steps to count as our work out for the day! Do you see the resemblance??????               This may seem like a simple rest time, HOWEVER; the Nursery 3 was huddled behind their "hideout" to keep away from the Grinch ! Santa as a back drop makes for some very imaginative play!   The risers are up for the Christmas show, SOOOO Nursery 2 used them to our advantage to practice sitting and rolling our balls off them! Walking down the risers and chasing them was the best part!

From Me to You.......

Dear Parents, A sincere THANK YOU to all of you for letting me teach your children for the past 15 years!   I am fortunate enough to teach them throughout their time at H.C.A. and watching them grow is a true gift. I adore being in the gym and believe that play is the best form of learning.  I hope you enjoy a wonderful Thanksgiving filled with good food, great family and friends.  Very best, Mrs. Mossor

Shoe Tying

Shoe Tying Pointers There is no wrong way to tie a shoe. Make sure you practice often but not too long. Consider getting two different color laces for easier visualization. (or you can use marker) Be sure the shoe is facing away from your child. Practice tightening (pulling) laces from the bottom. Make sure your child has enough lace to tie with. Take laces out of top hole for length. Be patient, give your child time to tie then you can tighten or double knot. Watch all the videos, try them all! See which one works best for your child.

Bocce

1st, 2nd and 3rd Graders are learning to play Bocce!! Because we are learning in the gym, we are using bean bags and our "pallina" is a block. The students started with simple target practice, trying to get their own bean bag closest to the pallina. The children are instructed to look as a group to see if they can agree which is closest and who wins the point. If it is a difficult call, one player uses their feet to measure the distance between the bean bags in question. As they improve, they play in teams against each other. The next step is a more realistic game where teams play on opposite ends of the court and throw toward the middle.  I am very impressed with the communication skills the children are using to discuss scoring as well as problem solving on their own!

Such a BOOtiful holiday!
